For the past five years, Finnish-born Mårten Mickos has worked in Silicon Valley as CEO of MySQL -- a once-tiny company that started in Sweden and became one of the most popular suppliers of open-source database software in the world. But Mickos recently traded his chief executive title for that of senior vice president at tech giant Sun Microsystems, which acquired MySQL for $1 billion this year.
