Please join us for lunch 11:30 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Fish & Richardson, 500 Arguello Street, to hear a presentation entitled “Places and Spaces – A Nordic Peek at the Virtual Work World” given by Dr. Eilif Trondsen of SRI, Menlo Park.

Interesting research projects are now under way around the world investigating 3D immersive environments (“Virtual Worlds”), a rapidly emerging area of innovation and business opportunity. In his presentation, Dr. Trondsen will give a brief demo of Second Life – to illustrate Virtual Worlds. He will do a quick overview of some key trends, issues and developments, and talk specifically about a Finnish - Tekes research project “Places and Spaces”, which explores how virtual spaces will integrate with physical places in the future and how Finnish organizations can best position themselves to take advantage of these developments.

Dr. Trondsen is the Research and Program Director of Virtual Worlds @ Work, a research consortium focused on 3D immersive environments, at SRI Consulting Business Intelligence (SRIC-BI) in Menlo Park, California. Eilif is the author and co-author of numerous publications on eCommerce, eLearning and virtual world topics.
