Please join us for a Silicon Vikings mixer 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at Fish & Richardson, 500 Arguello Street, 3rd Floor to welcome the 2009 Innovation Journalism Fellows. The 2009 InJo Fellows will share with us their views on the state of innovation in their countries of origin, and how the topic of innovation is covered by the journalism profession.
The VINNOVA Stanford Research Center of Innovation Journalism, founded by the H-STAR Institute (Human-Sciences Advanced Research institute) of Stanford University and VINNOVA (the Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems) and headed by Prof. Stig Hagström and Dr. David Nordfors, is in its 6th year of research and education on the subject of “Innovation Journalism”. The Center pursues human-sciences and technology research in areas that will impact and promote the development of innovation journalism, i.e. journalistic coverage of innovation processes and ecosystems. This involves looking at how journalism influences innovation, how innovation influences journalism, and the ability of journalism to recognize and cover innovation. The Center is building a network of researchers in innovation journalism by hosting visiting scholars from Sweden and inviting researchers from other countries to join. Each year selected journalists, nominated as InJo Fellows, participate in workshops and conferences at Stanford and collaborate with newsrooms across the U.S. in covering innovation. This year’s InJo Fellows, and their host organizations, are:
1. Afzal Bajwa, Chief Reporter, The Nation, Pakistan - Technologizer
2. Anna Kattan Journalist, Finnish Broadcasting Company - Fortune
3. Anu Partanen Managing Editor, Image Magazine, Finland - Fortune
